RAIPUR: Amid presence of thousands of supporters, Ajit Jogi on Monday formally announced forming his political party.

The former chief minister said that decisions for the people of Chhattisgarh will no longer be taken in Delhi.

"Instead, all decisions will be made in Chhattisgarh, for the benefit of the poor and the residents of the state", he said.

This was clearly an attack on the party leadership, as he was unhappy with the Congress high-command. Jogi's rivalry with Congress leaders within Chhattisgarh is well known. He wanted party leadership's backing and a larger role, but failing to get it, decided to leave the party.

Jogi was flanked by his wife Renu Jogi and son Amit Jogi. The former CM said that Chhattisgarh was a mineral-rich state and could feed the entire country, yet, people here remained poor.

He said that Raman Singh government had pocketed the riches of the state and had handed over its natural resources to outsiders and the big private companies. He vowed to change the politics of the state from bureaucrat-centric to people-centric.

Jogi said that he is floating the party to remove Raman Singh from power. The rally was held in Marwahi in  Bilaspur. He has not announced the party's name or symbol as yet. However, an agenda was presented before the public.
