Bhopal: A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed in the MP High Court seeking judicial probe into Bhopal encounter of eight SIMI operatives.

Terming the encounter as fake, the PIL also demands that criminal case should be registered against involved police officials.

The PIL has been filed by Bhopal-based social activist and journalist Awdhesh Bhargava with support of MP state president of All India Milli Council, Arif Masood who would appear as advocate in the case along with Yawar Mustafa Khan, Prashant Chourasia and Mahendra Singh

Masood told NewsBits.in that the PIL would come up for hearing on Monday or Tuesday (November 7/8).

He mentioned that some evidences including newspaper cuttings and video clippings have been put before the court to substantiate the claim that the encounter was faked.

The PIL mentions that the SIMI operatives tried to surrender before the police, but they were cornered and willfully killed.

The encounter had occurred near Acharpura village on outskirts of Bhopal on October 31 and all eight SIMI operatives who had escaped from Bhopal Central Jail a few hours earlier were killed on spot.

The encounter was subject to lot of questions because of several discrepancies in the police version. Also at least three video clippings surfaced that added to the doubts on genuineness of the encounter.
