BHOPAL: An argument over excessive power bill turned nasty in Bhopal on Wednesday when a junior engineer was murdered in his office.

The incident occurred when SK Vishwakarma, a resident of Chandbad, went to the power company's office with complaint of inflated electricity bill.

Vishwakarma and his companion first had a row with a clerk Vinay Walecha. Later the matter reached junior engineer Kamlakar Barathe. Vishwakarma insisted that the bill amount was wrong and inflated.

However, the junior engineer Barathe said that nothing could be done after reading and that there was no tampering. This angered Vishwakarma and his minor companion.

They assaulted the junior engineer in his cabin. The duo hit his head against the wall. Barathe, 26, got critically injured. He fell unconscious with blood coming out of his mouth. He was rushed to hospital where he died.

Barathe is survived by his wife and an infant daughter. After the incident, senior officials reached the spot. The police have taken the assailants in custody. A case of murder has been registered. The local police are conducting investigation in the case.
