BHOPAL: The conclave in Pachmarhi was about Mission 2018, the BJP's strategy to win the next Assembly poll, however, potshots taken by senior leaders took the centre stage.

Even more surprising was BJP state chief Nandkumar Singh Chouhan's strong words and the tough stand against senior leader Kailash Vijayvargiya.

The warning came after Vijayvargiya's comments and tweets that were critical of the State government's functioning during the last few days.

"The party doesn't agree with Vijayvargiya's views. Ever since, he has gone to Delhi, his understanding of MP's issues has gone down", said Nandkumar Singh Chauhan, the BJP MP chief about Vijayvargiya's comments.

When asked if such remarks affect the government, Chauhan said that, "the trouble is not for government but for person(s) who make such comments".

First, Kailash Vijayvargiya tweeted about the slow pace of metro rail projects in State and took a dig at the State government. Later, the tweet was deleted and the officials were blamed for the delay.

Also, Vijayvargiya opposed the decision of the party to expel Bhopal-based leader Prakash Mirchandani, who had criticised the affairs in the party in a facebook post. Vijayvargiya said that Mirchandani should have been given opportunity to explain his stand and leaders should have talked to him before suspending him from BJP.

Another BJP MLA Pannalal Shakya has said that there were issues within the party that need urgent redressal. Shakya went on to say that if due attention is not given, the party would find itself in a position similar to Congress' situation in 2003. However, state BJP chief took a tough stand on these comments.

Vijayvargiya and several other BJP leaders feel situation is not good within the party and there is lack of coordination. That bureaucras don't listen to the legislators and party leaders, is the main complaint.

Slow and poor working of government machinery and corruption among bureaucrats is another issue that is being repeatedly raised by the party leaders. Indore-based Kailash Vijayvargiya is a popular leader who eyed CM's post for long.

He is a Amit Shah confidante. However, Vijayvargiya has been feeling sidelined in MP for long. Though a national general secretary of the party, his ambitions in Madhya Pradesh are well-known. But this is a first when a BJP state chief has made such a strong comment against him.
