BJP leader sexually assaulted acid attack survivor in Madhya Pradesh, case registered

BHOPAL: A BJP leader, who has the status of minister of state in Madhya Pradesh, allegedly sexual assaulted an acid attack survivor.
The accused--Rajendra Namdev was picked up by police from a guest house on Sunday after a case was registered on the complaint of the woman, who hails from Seoni district.
UPDATE: Rajendra Namdev was expelled from the Bharatiya Janata Party following registration of FIR against him, party spokesman said on Monday.
The complainant said that she was raped in a hotel in Bhopal. The woman had met him after the acid attack in 2016 and Namdev had apparently tried to help her meet top officials and politicians, in order to get compensation.
It was since then, she knew Namdev who is a BJP leader and vice-president of MP Silai Kadhai Board. However, sometime ago, she was raped in a room of Rajdoot hotel in Bhopal, as per the FIR.
Acting on the complaint, the Hanumanganj police registered a case. Namdev has been accused of rape attempt in the complaint. The police are interrogating him at the Hanumanganj police station in Bhopal.
