BHOPAL/UJJAIN: A Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader in Ujjain, who is also a government official, has used a public forum to issue a serious threat – offering Rs one crore to anyone who would bring him the Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s severed head to him.

The RSS leader said that he has property worth Rs 1 crore and can afford to give the amount. Dr Kundan Chandrawat, posted with the malaria office of the Madhya Pradesh health department at Ujjain, is the city level publicity chief (prachar pramukh) of RSS.

At a protest programme organized at Shahid Park in Ujjain by local Janadhikar Samiti on Wednesday evening, Dr Chandrawat said that anyone who can bring the head of Kerala CM - ‘who is killer of swayamsevaks (RSS activists)’ - can get his property worth Rs one crore.

The programme was organized to protest the alleged attacks on and killings of RSS and ABVP workers in Kerala. Local Member of Parliament (MP) Chintamani Malviya and MLA Mohan Yadav and Ujjain mayor were also present at the venue, when the RSS leader came up with the threat.

Ujjain collector Sanket Bhondwe has said that cognizance of the media reports on the statements has been taken and appropriate steps would be taken if necessary.

He told NewsBits.in that the superintendent of police MS Verma was also looking into the matter, though no complaint has been made yet.

Local media reports said that the RSS leader did not stop at the open threat to Kerala CM, but also spewed venom – raking up the post-Godhra riots.

Dr Chandrawat reportedly said from the dais that ‘no one should forget Godhra. (They) killed 56, (we) sent 2000 to graveyards. Put them under the soil, this Hindu community.

"You (in Kerala) have killed 300 pracharaks and karyakartas (RSS workers). Listen communists! We would garland Bharat Maata with three lakh human heads". This was reported by the local media.

Later, while talking to local media persons, Dr Chandrawat said that he stood by his public forum statements. “I have said these things as a true son of Mother India and would face the consequences like a true son,” he said. RSS leaders in MP, however, said that it was not RSS' statement and he made it in his personal capacity. (Photo Courtesy: naidunia.jagran.com

UPDATE

Almost 24 hrs after the controversial speech, the RSS leader has apologised for his statement and has retracted it. Although, he couldn't be contacted as his phone remained switched off.

The clarification was issued through social media. "I made the speech as I was overcome by emotions over the killings of RSS members in Kerala. Now I regret using the words and withdraw the statement", it says.
