BHOPAL: The All India Milli Council has expressed concern over the recent incidents of communal violence in Madhya Pradesh.

It has also urged Muslims to vote for secular parties and candidates with a clean image in upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections.

After its two day conclave in Bhopal, the Milli Council chief Abdullah Mughaisi said that upcoming Assembly polls in UP, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur are crucial and parties that believe in constitution and support justice, equality and liberty for all, should be given votes.

Milli Council's general secretary Dr Manzoor Alam said that the RSS doesn't have belief in pluralistic society and these ideals. "There is an attempt to vitiate communal atmosphere ahead of elections. Hindus should also understand how they are mobilised by rousing anti-Muslim sentiments", he said.

"Once injustice begins, it doesn't stop at a section. Today Muslims are targeted, tomorrow others. Everyone would face it". On the issue of Triple Talaq, he said that it is strange to see that people who were silent when Muslim women were raped and killed in Gujarat riots, are today sympathising with the women", he said.

Stand with AIMPLB on triple talaq

During its two day conclave, it was decided to oppose implementation of Uniform Civil Code, and to fight BJP agenda to build Ram temple at the site in Ayodhya. This was AIMC's 18th conclave. It was the first occasion that it was held in Bhopal.

The Council leaders said that they were standing with AIMPLB. Milli Council worried over law-and-order situation in Madhya Pradesh, condemns incidents of communal violence. It doesn't benefit anybody.

"Media not performing its role, more loyal than the king"

He has come to power to secure citizens. Must take action. He should work to ensure equality and justice. Dr Alam said that media is not performing its role and is acting as an adocate of the ruling party, becoming more loyal than the king.

He also said that there were efforts to remove names of Muslim freedom fighters from texts would be fought tooth and nail. "Facts are being distorted and history erased. The education policy that is being prepared doesn't mirror Indian culture, must reflect composite culture and use this term".

"It is disturbing to see that Mamata Banerjee government cancelled permission of the ground where AIMPLB convention was to be held on flimsy grounds. This shows failure of the government and ineptness of the administration", said Dr Alam.
