SHIVPURI: Congress workers are demanding that senior party leader Jyotiraditya Scindia's wife Priyadarshini Raje should be fielded in the upcoming Assembly polls.
The demand is being raised that she should contest from Shivpuri.
Party office-bearers say that Congress hasn't won Shivpuri seat for the last twenty years and her candidature would help the party win the seat.
In the party workers' convention, the Congress leaders said that in order to wrest the seat from BJP, she should be given the ticket.
Party's city chief Shailendra Tedia said that for several terms, Congress has been losing in Shivpuri and it is high time, she made her political debut. The party workers supported the demand. Of late, there have been speculations about it in the town.
Besides, there is another reason. Priyadarshini Raje's name was added in the new voter list in Shivpuri only now. The name has been added at the Bombay Kothi residence in the town.
BJP leader and minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia represents the seat. Generally, Scindia family members avoid contesting against each other. Hence, despite the demands, question remains on whether she would contest the poll.
