Coronavirus: Hundreds test positive at Tirupati temple, 22 at Vrindavan temple that gets sealed

NEW DELHI: Hundreds of people including temple staff and priests have tested positive for Coronavirus at the famous Tirupati temple since the temple was reopened.

The temple trust officials have told media that after the temple opened up in June, there has been a large number of people who have tested positive, here.

They included pritests and employees. Till date, over 740 persons have tested positive. Three persons passed away. Right now, around 335 persons are getting treated. However, the temple trust staff has said that the best possible medication is being provided to the infected persons. 

Apart from precautions, now the temple authorities are ensuring strict norms of social distancing. The devotees were wearing masks and all other safety measures were being followed. The Lord Venkateswara Temple--known as Tirumala Tirupati temple, is located at Tirumala in Andhra Pradesh, and is one of the wealthiest temples in the country. 

Meanwhile, in a separate development, around 22 persons including priests tested positive for Covid 19 at a temple in Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh. After the report, the temple premises have been sealed. This incident has occurred at International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple.

Several other temples have also scaled down the Janmashtami celebration and the puja events in view of the Coronavirus cases reported at Vrindavan temple. In Delhi and other places too, temples would go for a low-key festival. ISKCON officials have taken decision in this regard.
