Bhopal: A television actor Kamlesh Pande, whose best known role is that of police inspector in several episodes of long-running serial Crime Patrol, shot himself to death late on Monday night in Jabalpur of Madhya Pradesh.

Pandey, 38, was apparently upset that the wedding of his niece was fixed without his consultation. Police sources said that according to the FIR the actor was in an inebriated condition when he shot himself fatally.

The actor originally hailed from Katni, but came to Jabalpur residence of his sister-in-law (wife’s sister) to confront the family about the marriage plan of their elder daughter. Pande was upset that neither was he consulted when the marital alliance of his niece was fixed nor was he invited for the engagement ceremony.

Pande’s sister-in-law had differences with her husband Anjani Chaturvedi a few years back and had moved to Pande’s residence along with her three children. Kamlesh considered the two daughters of Anjani as his own daughters.

Recently however the girls had moved back to Jabalpur to their father’s place as the differences between their parents was sorted out.

Few weeks ago, Chaturvedi fixed the alliance of his elder daughter to a boy of whom Kamlesh did not approve.

On Monday night, Pande came to Chaturvedi residence very late in night in an inebriated condition and started abusing the family from outside. When they did not open the door, he called up his wife in Katni to get her sister to open the door.

After the door was opened, Pande entered the house with a country made pistol and started hurling abuse at Anjani Chaturvedi. When the latter’s son Harshit tried to intervene, Kamlesh reportedly hit him with pistol butt and fired in the air. Immediately afterwards, he shot himself in the chest and was declared dead upon arrival in hospital.

Apart from Crime Patrol, Pande had worked in TV serials like Diya aur Baati, Sath Nibhana Sathiya, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, Mere angney mei, Ek Ladki Suhaani Si and others.
