Dalit man beaten up for 'daring to ride motorcycle' in Madhya Pradesh, case registered

BHOPAL: A Dalit man was allegedly beaten up for daring to ride a motorcycle. 

This incident was reported from Dharmpura village in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh.  

According to information, Dayaram Ahirwar was assaulted as he was spotted riding a bike.

Besides, he passed in front of the Sarpanch's house.  Upset, the Sarpanch's kin beat up Ahirwar, w ho was threatened and told not to ride a bike again. The case took a serious turn when a video clip of the man being slapped repeatedly, went viral on social media.  

The video clearly showed that the victim was being slapped repeatedly. Ahirwar says that he had complained to the local police but no action was taken. After the clip went viral on social media, the administration was forced to take up notice.  

The officials say that probe has begun and action would be taken against the assailants. The complainant says that he was returning from the market, riding a bike, when he passed in front of the sarpanch's house.  

The sarpanch's kin, Vinod, got angered and confronted him. The complainant was beaten up and warned of dire consequences. Now, the police have registered a case against four persons. The accused have been booked for threat, intimidation and assault.
