NEW DELHI: Five CRPF personnel were killed in a terrorist strike in Jammu and Kashmir.

The incident occurred when militants opened fire at the jawans in an open market in Anantnag.

The attack took place on Wednesday evening when the terrorists opened fire at the CRPF personnel of 116 battalion.

Those killed include ASI Neeru Sharma, ASI Ramesh Kumar, constables Satendra, constable MK Kushwaha and constable Mahesh Kumar. Apart from these CRPF men, some other persons were also injured in the incident.

One of the militants was killed in this exchange of fire. Initial reports suggested that the other militant managed to escape.  Top politicians have condoled the deaths of the security personnel. The attacks continue despite BJP government's 'tough on terror' line in Jammu and Kashmir, apart from rest of the country.
