Gang rape: Teenaged girl called 'friend' for help in lockdown, he rapes her along with others

RANCHI: A teenaged girl who was stuck during lockdown on account of coronavirus, was raped by her 'friend' and his companions.
The girl, a 16-year-old, was gang raped by 10 youths. This incident occurred in Dumka.
The girl was returning home from her hostel. As there was no vehicle available, she was unable to reach her hometown. First, a girl dropped her at Gopikandar. Her family couldn't reach and hence he called her friend Prasannajit Hansda alias Vicky.
Soon, he came riding a bike along with friend. On way, they stopped the bike on the pretext of ttending nature's call. Subsequently, they raped her in a forest. Later, eight other persons raped her. The girl fell unconscious.
Throughout the night she remained in the jungle. Next morning, she managed to crawl and came close to the main road. Locals spotted her and she was admitted to hospital. On the basis of her complaint, a case has been registered.
The horrific incident that has occurred amid the coronavirus scare, has sent shockwaves across the region. Police officials confirmed that the girl was gang raped and said that her statement was recorded. The officials have assured that the accused would be arrested soon. The police said that efforts are on to catch the culprits.
