Harda: Two cousin sisters whose bodies were found in an agriculture field on Thursday in Umri of Harda might have been electrocuted by live wire meant to protect crops from animals.

Initial postmortem report has suggested death by electrocution, Harda superintendent of police Aditya Pratap Singh told media persons on Saturday. However, the opinion of Medico Legal Institute in Bhopal has been sought to confirm cause of death in the case, the SP said.

Bodies of two cousin sisters, one of them minor, were found in mysterious circumstances. Prima facie, the police suspected that the girls were murdered and sources also indicated suspicion of rape due to nature of some injuries.

The two sisters, Vimla, 18 and Rajni, 15 daughters of two brothers of Umri village had left home on Wednesday evening saying that they wanted to attend Ganeshotsava rituals in nearby Sirali. When they did not return till late in night, the family members lodged a complaint with local police.

On Thursday morning, one Pawan Gaur reached the agriculture field to collect fodder and spotted the two bodies. He informed other villagers after which police were summoned. Since there were some injury marks near private parts of the elder girl, rape was being suspected.

Kin of the girls are yet suspecting foul play in the deaths and have submitted memorandum to the SP office. The SP said that a friend of the elder girl, who was being suspected, has been questioned along with his friends, but his story matches out. He said investigations were still on.
