Jailbreaks not a big issue, says Madhya Pradesh minister in Assembly

BHOPAL: MP minister Kusum Mahdale has said that jailbreaks are not a big issue.
Mahdale, who is in-charge of prisons department, said that the country is so big and some incidents happen.
She said that the jailbreaks were common and necessary action was taken after such incidents.
The issue was raised in the Assembly on Monday. Subsequently, the minister made the remark. She said that when there are jailbreaks, the absconders have been punished.
Recently, there was a jailbreak in Morena, when two under-trial prisoners had escaped. Earlier, there was the infamous jailbreak from the Bhopal central jail last year.
In that case, the suspected SIMI operatives who escaped the prison, were killed in an encounter. An inquiry is being conducted to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.
