HARDA: A lawyer allegedly handed over drug to the accused who were in police custody.

The incident took place in Harda recently.

A lawyer, Shashank Sharma, has been accused of gross professional misconduct for handing over the sachet containing narcotic to the accused who were in judicial remand and were brought to court by police.

At that point the matter was hushed up but as it became to known, there was a feeling of outrage. Several lawyers have expressed shock and have now written a letter to the Bar Association president asking for action.

A copy of the letter has also been sent to the Superintendent of Police (SP) and the High Court. The lawyer Shashank Sharma has denied the charges and says that the charges were baseless.

SP Rajesh Singh said that he has received the letter and would examine the plaint. He said that if the incident occurred outside the court, then it would be investigated. However, if it is on court premises, then it is outside the jurisdiction.
