BHOPAL: An activist who is worried with negative impact of cartoon characters on children, has launched a fight to get two major cartoon shows banned.

Ashish Chaturvedi, especially, wants a ban on cartoon shows featuring Shinchan and Doraemon.

These characters are spoiling the children and are affecting their psychology, behaviour and lifestyle, feels the activist.

Chaturvedi, a whistleblower in Vyapam scam, lives in Gwalior. He has sent legal notice to Information and Broadcasting Ministry, the Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC), Ministry of women and child welfare apart from Hungama TV channel.

The activist has also sent notice to some other bodies, expressinc concern over the violent nature of characters shown in these TV shows. Chaturvedi feels that these cartoon shows have adverse impact on the children's mind.

Chaturvedi cites examples to suggest how these cartoons influence the kids in the wrong way. He mentions that father of a cartoon character is shown smoking and teaching the children how to make cigarette smoke rings.

Parents have also expressed concern over the negative impact of these cartoons. They feel kids get irritable, learn expletives, become argumentative and disrespectful. The character of Nobita who is always crying and is ever-dependent on Doraemon for magic remedy, is affecting kids, they feel.
