Madhya Pradesh leader of opposition Ajay Singh gives up beacon, urges BJP ministers to do the same

BHOPAL: Senior Congress leader Ajay Singh has announced that he would no longer use red beacon on his vehicle.

Singh, who is leader of opposition in the MP Assembly, made the announcement in the House today.

During zero hour, he said that use of beacon is nothing but a new form of feudalism and it needs to be stopped.

Ajay Singh said that use of beacon on VIP's cars should stop. He hoped BJP ministers in the state would also stop the use of beacons on their cars, jeeps and SUVs.

After his announcement, minister Gopal Bhargava said that why Singh has come up with this idea now. The Leader of Opposition replied that when he was minister, then also he didn't use beacon on his vehicle.

He said that this culture must come to an end. Singh is son of late Arjun Singh, the Congress heavyweight and former CM apart from being in Union minister in PV Narasimharao and Manmohan Singh's cabinets.

Recently, Captain Amarinder Singh, had made a similar announcement in Punjab. He had asked his ministers to shun beacons and advised them that it should not be made a prestige issue.
