Maoists attack security guard of Congress leader in Dantewada, escape with AK-47 rifle

RAIPUR/DANTEWADA: In a brazen incident, Maoists attacked a security guard of Chhattisgarh Congress leader Avadhesh Gautam and escaped with his AK-47 gun.
The Congress leader who was at his ancestral house in Nakulnar village of Maoist infested Dantewada district of Bastar, remained unhurt as the Maoists could not reach him. Security guards also chased the attackers but failed to apprehend them.
The incident occured on Friday while a weekly market was on in Nakulnar. The Maoists posed as villagers and in bid to enter Gautam's house attacked his guard and managed to take away his high-end assault rifle.
Superintendent of police of Dantewada district has confirmed the incident.
Gautam has been on hit-list of Maoists as he was actively involved with the Salwa Judum movement of the Congress regime led by Mahendra Karma who was later killed in a major attack.
Earlier, Gautam's house has been attacked and his daughter managed to save her younger brother, sources said. (Representational image)
