BHOPAL/SEHORE: In a major step, 26 doctors have submitted their resignations to protest the alleged misbehaviour with doctors at the district hospital in Sehore.

The mass resignations took place on Thursday. All the resignations were handed over to the district collector.

The doctors wrote that they could not work in the present circumstances, especially, when they were subjected to misbehaviour and mistreatment.

Sehore, which adjoins Bhopal, is chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's home district as his native town Jait falls in this district. The doctors are upset after BJP leader Jaspal Arora allegedly misbehaved with the doctors in the district hospital.

"A minor was brought for medical examination and his family member called the BJP leader, telling him that we were ignoring the patient. He called up the leader and soon Jaspal Arora came to the hospital, abusing and threatening us", said a doctor.

The doctors have also called a meeting in Bhopal in this regard. Doctors in other towns also staged symbolic protests, in solidarity with the government hospital's doctors, particularly, the civil surgeon.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Jaspal Arora has defended his action and said that the doctors were insensitive. "After a minor boy who had been sodomised and was brought to hospital, they didn't pay attention to him", he told media persons.

"I admit that I was angry and shouted but later the issue was sorted out. I don't know what they are demanding", Arora said. Sources said that the BJP leader has been called by senior party functionaries and his explanation has been sought.
