New Delhi/Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan faced some embarrassing moments at the concluding session on the BJP national executive meet at New Delhi on Saturday (January 7) as his speech was thrice interrupted by party’s national president Amit Shah.

Shah had to intervene multiple times to ask Shivraj Singh Chouhan to remain focused on the topic allotted to him. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present on the dais when the interruptions were made.

Chouhan spoke on agriculture scenario in the country, with special reference to Madhya Pradesh. However, the three-times MP CM, under whose leadership the state has won the Krishi Karman award for excellence in agriculture for last many consecutive years, distracted from the topic many times.

As Chouhan started speaking of other issues Amit Shah intervened not once but thrice and asked Chouhan to remain focused on the topic, sources told NewsBits.in.

Different factions within the party are terming the incident as insult to the MP CM and Amit Shah respectively. Chouhan is one of the longest serving BJP CM (In his third term) and senior to Amit Shah in party echelons in the sense that when Chouhan was national general secretary of party, Shah was merely an office-bearer in Gujarat state unit.

They have also gone ahead to call it insult to Madhya Pradesh as its CM was embarrassed on a national forum of the party. The supporters of Chouhan pointed out that Shivraj’s popularity among masses had no match and it was his personal charisma that led to winning of repeated elections in state by BJP.

However the faction supporting Shah said that Chouhan continuing to divert from the topic despite repeated interventions of Shah was insult to the national president.

Though Shivraj Singh Chouhan's leadership in agriculture advancement of Madhya Pradesh came in for a praise during the concluding session, the interruptions by national president stood out like sore thumb, sources said.

The party leaders have however remained tight-lipped about the entire episode, refraining from any public comments.
