The Yogi Adityanath government has decided to constitute a new force that would have excessive powers and would be able to 'arrest anyone without warrant'.

The official confirmation has come in this regard, today. It said that any member of this force would be able to arrest a person without orders or warrant in this regard.

The members of SSF will have the power to conduct search operations without warrant. Also, the state government would issue notification and formulate rules. The official communique says that all the powers would be in accordance with the rules and regulations that would govern the force, according to the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Home.

SSF or UPSSF, as it will be known, would have special training and initially five battalions would be constituted. The draft would be prepared soon. In view of incidents at different courts, the Allahabad High Court bench had recently ordered the state government to form a special force.

The decision was made in a high-level meet that was chaired by the Chief Minister. The force--SSF, would also get the most modern equipment, and will have its headquarters in Lucknow. The SSF may also get the task of providing security to installations of vital importance apart from places of religious importance.
