SATNA: In a bizarre incident, a politician allegedly took a dacoit's parents as hostage after his son was kidnapped.

The tit-for-tat incident occurred in Chitrakut on MP-UP border.

The dacoit gang had first abducted the politician's son, demanding a ransom of Rs 50 lakh for the youth's release.

But the politician managed to get dacoit's parents as hostage, in order to force the bandit to release his son. The leader, however, on record denies his involvement in taking away the elderly people.

Sources said that the dacoit Babli Kol abducted Vijay, son of a Samajwadi Party leader and Balwant Kumar, a railway employee. Vijay's father Nirbhay alias Santu Singh is a Samajwadi Party leader.

Call it abduction or tit-for-tat pressure tactics to get his son released, say locals. Vijay was travelling towards Satna when he stopped at a railway crossing near Markundi.

The members of the dacoit gang held him at gunpoint and took him away along with the railway gateman. About Rs 50 lakh ransom amount was demanded. But after the incident the politician got the bandits parents taken away to an undisclosed place as a response to the crime.

The aim was to get his son's release in exchange. The message has been sent to the dacoit that unless he releases the abducted persons, his parents would remain in illegal confinement. Local police officials reached the spot after the abductions.

UP police have told media persons that police teams have begun combing operation in the entire region. The dacoit gangs hide in the forests in the region spread between Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
