BHOPAL: Firebrand BJP leader Uma Bharti has said that she should not be compared with Pragya Singh Thakur.

Bharti, who was in Katni, was responding to a journalist's query about Pragya Singh Thakur, the BJP candidate from Bhopal.

When asked if Pragya would replace her in the politics of Madhya Pradesh, Uma said that there was no such comparison.

"Pragya Thakur is a great saint. I am an ordinary foolish person. There is no comparison", she said. Bharti is no longer playing an important role in BJP and has been totally sidelined.

In fact, she had represented Bhopal seat in the parliament earlier. During Shivraj Singh Chouhan's tenure, Bharti was kept out of state politics. Later, she became a union minister but could never get the importance which she had during previous BJP regime.

A former chief minister of MP, she had resigned after her name figured in a criminal case in Karnataka. However, the party chose Babulal Gaur and later Shivraj Chouhan as chief ministers. Since then, she has been almost sidelined in the party. Of all the three important women leaders of BJP viz Sushma Swaraj, Uma Bharti and Sumitra Mahajan, none is contesting election in 2019.
