Punjab: Three killed, dozen injured in terror attack on Nirankari prayer hall in Amritsar

AMRITSAR: Three persons were killed while over a dozen were injured in a terror attack on Nirankari Darbar.

This incident occurred in Amritsar (Punjab) on Sunday morning. 

Motorcycle-borne attackers arrived at the spot, threw grenade and sped off. 

There were around 200 devotees in the prayer hall of the Nirankari sect in the outskirts of Amritsar, then. The masked bike-borne attackers, however, managed to escape.

Soon after the incident, top police officials reached the spot. Rajasansi, where the incident occurred is close to the Airport. Nirankaris are considered a heretic sect by mainstream Sikhs in Punjab. 

Security has been upgraded in Punjab and policemen have been deployed at Nirankari prayer halls in Punjab, Haryana and Delhi. Alert has also been sounded in Punjab and Haryana. Efforts are on to catch the attackers.
