BHOPAL: A district collector threatened to slap a person when he dared to ask him a question.

This happened in front of TV cameras, when the collector was speaking to media in Khargone.

Collector Ashok Kumar Verma was speaking about campaign to make panchayats Open Defecation Free (ODF).

Suddenly, a person asked him, how the panchayat office that was shut for two years, opened for the first time when he (Collector) came for a visit.

'Do saal se panchayat nahi khule, aapke aane se khuli, aisa kaise" (for two years Panchayat was shut, you came and it opened, how is that...", he asked.

This question infuriated Verma, who shot back. "Do jhapad denge theek ho jaaoge...", said the collector when he had TV mikes on in front of him.
