BHOPAL: As expected, 1982-batch IAS officer S R Mohanty has been appointed as the new chief secretary of Madhya Pradesh. Official order in this regard was issued by the state government on December 31. The new assignment comes to Mohanty in the regime of Congress government that has assumed power in state after 15 years. Mohanty is known as a strict and efficient officer with strong grasp over administrative affairs. He replaces B P Singh, who retires on Dec 31, 2018 and goes on to become state election commissioner.
