BHOPAL: In a shocking incident, six minor girls living in an orphanage were raped by the father of the orphanage owner.

The incident occurred at Madhav Bal Ashram in Shivpuri, which is run by Shaila Agarwal.

Her father, KN Agarwal, has been accused of the rapes with the girls. Agarwal is now absconding.

The incident came to light when members of child welfare committee went to the Ashram for inspection. The girls complained to them about sexual harassment and rape.

Subsequently, the committee members informed the district administration. Collector OP Srivastava ordered a probe. The Woman and Child Welfare department began a probe and recorded statements of the girls.

The inmates told the officials that KN Agarwal had raped many girls apart from sexual harassment with other inmates. The medical examination confirmed that they were raped.

It is learnt that the owner was aware of her father's acts, yet, she didn't stop him. All the girls are being shifted to another hostel.

"Shaila Agarwal has been arrested. A case has been registered against her father and police teams are searching for him", said an official.
