SHOCKING: Armymen attacked, one of them killed in Indore

INDORE: In a shocking incident, two armymen were attacked--one of them killed, by a group of armed persons.

The incident occurred in Banganga  area of the city on late Sunday night.

The assailants who were armed with knives, rods and other sharp-edged weapons surrounded the armymen and attacked them. Varun Chauhan, who was posted in Pathankot, was critically injured in the attack.

He later succumbed to the injuries. The other jawan, Yogesh Pal, has also sustained injuries in the attack, apart from some others who got hurt in the attack.

He has been undergoing treatment in the hospital. His condition is reported to be stable. He told police that the attackers--Hemant, Dilip, Arjun, Mohit, Vicky and nearly half-a-dozen others, who were armed, attacked them near their house.

The two army personnel had come back to their hometown on leave. Pal is posted on China border these days. The duo had gone to watch a wrestling bout in the nearby locality in the evening.

Later, they went to a 'dhaba' for dinner and wre returning late in the night, when they were targeted. The victims' family members also rushed to their succour, as the house is not far away, but they were also attacked.

The assailants later managed to escape. Police said that a case of murder has been registered after the death of Varun Chauhan. The statement of the injured jawan has also been recorded.

Police officials suspect that the attackers nursed grievance against them over a parking dispute that had taken place sometime ago. However, investigation is on to ascertain the exact reason behind the attack.

The police said that attackers have been identified and two suspects have been detained while separate teams are on the lookout for the remaining absconders. The Army has been informed about the incident.
