Harda: Bodies of two cousin sisters, one of them minor, were found in an agriculture field in Umri village of Harda district on Thursday morning, causing shock waves in the area. Prima facie, the police suspect that the girls were murdered.

Sources said due to nature of some injuries, rape before murder is also being suspected.

Harda superintendent of police Aditya Pratap Singh said that the bodies of 18-year-old woman and her 15-year-old cousin have been sent for postmortem and the fact whether they were raped could be ascertained only after the report comes in.

The two sisters, daughters of two brothers of Umri village had left home on Wednesday evening saying that they wanted to attend Ganeshotsava rituals in nearby Sirali. When they did not return till late in night, the family members lodged a complaint with local police.

On Thursday morning, one Pawan Gaur reached the agriculture field to collect fodder and spotted the two bodies. He informed other villagers after which police were summoned. Since there were some injury marks near private parts of the elder girl, rape is being suspected.

SP Singh has said investigations in the matter were on and postmortem report was awaited for further clues.
