BHOPAL: A video of a government official--a Tehsildar, cutting his birthday cake with a sword has gone viral on the social media, creating a huge controversy.

A sub-divisional magistrate level officer was also present at the celebration and a youth fired in the air in his presence adding to the issue.

After the matter reached senior officials in Bhopal, the district administration took serious cognizance. Indore collector Nishant Warwade has summoned the officials – Tehsildar Tapish Pandey and SDM Pratul Sinha – and it is expected that they would be asked to explain the scenario.

According to information available, during the recent birthday celebration of the tehsildar Tapish Pande, a big cake was brought and he cut the cake using a sword that was reportedly handed over by a local office bearer of the ruling BJP.

A youth fired in the air as a mark of celebration and all this while the local SDM Pratul Sinha was present. Sources said that the tehsildar is quite close to BJP as well as Congress leaders and some of them were present at the celebration where the cake was cut with a sword and celebratory firing done.

Pandey is said to be particularly close to a senior BJP leader from Indore and his son. Meanwhile, tehsildar Pandey has defended himself saying that he does not know the individual who fired in the air.
