Tiger run over by train in Madhya Pradesh, killed while crossing railway line

BHOPAL: A tiger was run over by a train in Madhya Pradesh. This is 29th tiger death in the state in 2016.

This incident occurred in Chitahra that falls under Majhgawan forest area in Satna district in Eastern part of Madhya Pradesh. 

It was a four-year-old tiger, said officials. The tiger was crossing the railway line when the train arrived. The passing train hit the tiger and the injury resulted in its death. 

The tiger was seen writhing in pain by a passer-by. The driver of the next train also saw the injured tiger. The officials were informed but by the time they reached, it had succumbed to the injuries.

Tiger's caracass was found lying beside the railway line. It is learnt that a goods train that was passing by, hit the tiger. The officials said that they had information that five tigers were sighted in this area. 

Later, the forest officials reached the spot. The last rites of the tiger were performed. There is officially no tiger in this forest circle. The tiger(s) apparently venture into Satna forest area, from Panna Tiger reserve and Ranipur sanctuary. 

The photograph of the tiger has been sent to both the places to ascertain the identity of the tiger. The post-mortem was also conducted and its report is awaited, said local forest officials.
