Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday brushed aside China’s strong opposition to India’s Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) entry bid and said ‘dialogue with the neighboring country should continue for better economic ties’.

Chouhan, who returned from a six-day visit to China, was talking to the newspersons at Bhopal.

Later, the chief minister even took to his official Twitter handle to exult over ‘bilateral relations’ between two countries ‘gaining momentum’ under initiative of Indian prime minister Narendra Modi and Chinese premier Xi Jinping.

The chief minister posted 20 tweets about this China visit and in one of them also said ‘Communist Party of China and BJP have done numerous works in social fields.  This way there is tremendous similarities between the two parties’.

Only two days ago, Chinese-led opposition led to failure of Indian bid in NSG leading to strong reaction in country on the foreign policy of Narendra Modi-led union government.

At this time, Chouhan and his delegation including industries minister were in China on an exchange programme by the International Department of Communist Party of China. He returned to India on Saturday and to Bhopal on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, the chief minister, when queried about economic engagement with China despite its persistent stand to scuttle India’s NSG entry, said that both countries have their own national interest and act according to that.

“Chinese people have deep interest in India as an economy and to boost ties, dialogues must continue,” he said.

The chief minister said that during his visit he met groups of prospective investors in China and the discussion was fruitful.

Chouhan said that Sany Group of China is looking forward to invest US Dollars one billion in the state, including for a 500 MW wind energy project and industrial infrastructure building. Also he spoke about the interest shown by Oppo mobile company in handset manufacture.
