Vyapam scam: Chirayu Medical College's former dean arrested, CBI to produce him in court
BHOPAL: The central buraeu of investigation (CBI) has arrested Dr Virender Mohan in connection with Vyapam scam
Dr Mohan was dean with the Chirayu Medical College in Bhopal.
The CBI has arrested him in connection with irregularities in the allotment of seats in PMT 2012 under the multi-layered Vyapam scam.
A non-bailable warrant was issued against him by the special judge of the CBI court in Bhopal. The agency subsequently arrested him from Ludhiana. He would now be presented in the court.
The CBI had recently presented charge-sheet in the Bhopal court. The 592 page 'chalan' names officials of Chirayu Medical College, LN Medical College, People's Medical College and Inded Medical College.
All these colleges were found involved in giving admission to ineligigible candidates. The network of racketeers got youths who were in cahoots with them, admission and these youths later surrendered seats. These seats were 'sold' to those who were willing to pay, says the charge-sheet.
