Vyapam scam: Supreme Court directs CBI to present forensic report in six weeks

Bhopal: The Supreme court has directed the central bureau of investigation (CBI) to present the forensic report of the electronic evidence in the Vyapam case.

The SC that is monitoring investigation into the scam, told the CBI to come with the report within six weeks. The forensic report pertains to electronic evidence examined by Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL).

This includes hard disk and pen drive that are the most important piece of evidence in the multi-layered scam. Main accused and Vyapam chief systems analyst Nitin Mahindra's hard disk was seized by Indore police in the beginning. Also, whistle-blower Prashant Pandey had obtained a copy of the data in a pen drive.

The Apex court may pass an order on monitoring of the case after the forenis report is presented before it. The CBI has filed status report on the investigation. Already, CBI has closed many preliminary inquiries (PEs) that were registered about suspicious deaths.

CBI said that some telecom companies were not assisting in the probe, fully. Vyapam scam is an organised scam in which officials, politicians and middle-men had formed a nexus to help ineligible candidates crack admission tests and job recruitment exams.
