The girl's spine got badly injured and as a result her limbs have got paralysed.

This horrific incident took place in Hathras town in Uttar Pradesh. The girl's condition remains critical and has been rushed to Delhi for treatment.

The girl was initially admitted in Aligarh and was on ventilator support, and is now battling for life in Delhi. The police said that four accused who were named in the FIR have been arrested. She was injured and her tongue had a serious cut because she bit it when accused tried to strangulate her.

The girl, a Dalit, hails from Bulgarhi in Hathras district of UP. She was returning from the fields when the accused who belong to Upper Caste, targeted her. Her kin later found her lying injured and took her to hospital. BSP chief Mayawati has raised the issue and said that it reflects the poor law-and-order in Uttar Pradesh.

Several officials were in denial, until there were reports in national media.
