BURHANPUR: The man who raped and murdered a three-year-old girl, was addicted to pornography.

The accused--Vijay Rao Prajapati, 35, a resident of Burhanpur, had abducted the girl and taken the kid to a desolate place, where he raped her.

After the girl was missing, family members approached the police. The body was later found from a drain. This incident had led to shockwaves in Burhanpur.

As the investigation began, Vijay escaped. There was already suspicion on him. There were nail marks on his face, suggesting that the child had desperately tried to resist. When interrogated, he later confessed the crime.

He told police that he had lured the kid by offering her chocolate. He took her to the fields and after raping her, strangulated her to death. The police said that Vijay had been caught for unnatural act with a buffalo too in the past.

The accused was associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), said locals. A photograph of the accused in the Sangh outfit was also found. Despite Sangh volunteers acceptance that he was linked to the group, local RSS leader Ram Kadam said that he had no official duty in the Sangh.

The Sangh leader claimed that there are lakhs of Sangh workers, so it is difficult to identify one person in a photograph. "We condemn the crime", he told media. Vijay has two wives and a son. It had taken police several days to catch him.

Four teams were formed to arrest the culprit. After the incident, initially, he had posed as he was helping the family in search of the girl. But when he sensed that the police had got clues, he ran away to Maharashtra.

But was finally traced and arrested. During questioning, he told police that he watched porn video clips and read pornographic literature. In the court, when he was produced, Vijay showed no sign of remorse.
