Railway officials drug, rape girl in rest house at Bhopal railway station

BHOPAL: Two railway officials allegedly gang-raped a girl who was given a drugged cold drink. The incident occurred in the rest house at the Bhopal railway station.

The girl, a 22-year-old, hails from Mahoba in Uttar Pradesh. She said that the accused, Rajesh Tiwari, promised her a job and when she came here, he arranged for her stay at the railways' guesthouse.

However, at around 11 pm, he came with another person. They offered her cold drink and after she sipped it, she felt dizzy and got unconscious. When she woke up, she realised that she had been raped, the girl told police. Tiwari was posted as senior section engineer safety in DRM office.

The Railway police officials said that girl met Rajesh Tiwari through a relative from Jhansi, and after conversation, he promised job. Subsequently, she had come from Jhansi, boarding a train, and arrived here. Tiwari was earlier also sacked. He was given job again, though he had been booked.

On the basis of the complaint, police have now registered a case against Tiwari and his companion. The Railways has also ordered a probe and suspended Tiwari. Tiwari is also a railway union leader. The accomplice, Alok Malviya, has also been arrested. [September 27, 2020 NewsBits.in]
