United Kingdom clears Vijay Mallya's extradition to India
LONDON: UK clears fugitive business tycoon Vijay Mallya's extradition to India.
The British Home secretary has given assent to his extradition. However, Mallya, 63, has two weeks to appeal. The businessman defaulted on bank loans to the tune of over Rs 9,000 crores.
The loans were taken for running the now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines, which he had founded. Mallya, known for flaunting his wealth, was also a member of the Indian upper house in the past.
