Additional 100 companies of paramilitary forces deployed in Srinagar as separatist leaders detained

NEW DELHI: An additional hundred companies of Central Armed Police (paramilitary) Forces were airlifted to Srinagar early on Saturday to boost security set-up.

This security build up has come after the local police detained JKLF chief Yasin Malik and arrested dozens of other Jamaat-e-Islami workers in the Valley on Friday night.

The fresh deployment includes 45 companies of the CRPF, 35 of the BSF and ten each of the 10 SSB, and the ITBP.

Police have so far not commented on the detentions of the Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, but sources said that it was in view of the expected protests in view of Supreme Court hearing on section 35A that starts Saturday.
