Cow vigilantes' terror in MP: Plaint to NHRC seeks compensation for victims, action against vigilantes

NEW DELHI/BHOPAL: A complaint has been filed with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in connection with the cow vigilantes' attack on three persons including a woman in Seoni in Madhya Pradesh.

Social activist SQ Masood has formally filed the plaint about the incident that occurred on May 22, 2019. That the gang members beat up the victims brutally--a clear violation of human rights, and recorded video to share on social media to spread message of hatred and violence, action must be taken said Masood.

The Hyderabad-based activist has sought strict action against the attackers and has said that compensation of Rs 10 lakh should be paid to each of the victims by the state government. The assailants were members of Sri Ram Sena and their chief who has several criminal cases against him, had been externed from district limits in the past.
