Horror: 130 children dead in Bihar due to Encephalitis as administration slept
MUZAFFARPUR: As many as 130 children have died in Muzaffarpur in Bihar due to the Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in the region.
Around 52 patients had died at Sri Krishna Medical College alone. The figures of deaths were from hospitals and the toll may be much higher as figures aren't available from rural parts of the district.
It took days and especially media attention that the deaths became a major issue. Local administration had failed to handle the situation.
The deaths were going on for weeks. Encephalitis is a viral disease that causes high fever and convulsions apart from headache.
