Akash Vijayvargiya arrested for attacking officer with bat during anti-encroachment drive

INDORE: Akash Vijayvargiya, the son of BJP bigwig Kailash Vijayvargiya, has been arrested for attacking a public servant with a cricket bat on Wednesday.

After the bail plea was rejected, he is likely to be sent to jail on judicial custody though his lawyers said they would appeal in higher court.

The incident occurred during the anti-encroachment drive of the Indore municipal corporation. Akash, who represents Indore 3 constituency in the Assembly, was seen hitting the zonal officer.

This was after the municipal squad reached the spot to demolish a structure that was deemed 'dangerous'. However, the structure was owned by an Akash supporter.

As the video went viral, Akash was booked for obstructing government servant from discharge of duty apart from rioting, abusive behaviour and criminal intimidation. He was arrested later. Akash is son of BJP general secretary and Indore strongman Kailash Vijayvargiya, however, this act has embarrassed the BJP.
