HC judge asks Gonsalves why he kept 'War and Pace' at home

MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court asked why Vernon Gonsalves kept the book 'War and Peace' at his home.

Surprising it may seem but the judge asked Gonsalves to explain why kept the book which was about 'war in another country' at his house.

Justice Sarang Kotwal who was hearing the bail plea of Gonsalves and activists Sudha Bharadwaj, Arun Ferreira, asked the question. Gonsalves is an accused in Bhima Koregaon case and prosecution had submitted 'incriminating material' recovered from his place when he was arrested last year.

Gonsalves' counsel said that keeping books and CDs doesn't make him a terrorist or member of a Maoist outfit. The judge, however, said that Gonsalves must explain why he kept it at home.
