Chandrayaan 2 fails to land on moon, project cost was 978 crore, nation supports scientists

NEW DELHI: The Chandrayaan 2, an ambitious project that cost Rs 978 crore, has failed to meet its objective and couldn't land on moon.

Just before it was about to land, the connection was lost. The ISRO ground station lost its contact when lander Vikram was just 2.1 km above the moon (lunar surface).

The scientists were in tears. However, PM Narendra Modi said that it was a great effort and that the country stands behind its scientists.

Modi said that India is proud of our scientists. "They’ve given their best and have always made India proud. These are moments to be courageous, and courageous we will be!"
