Man abuses Muslim food delivery man in Hyderabad, police refuse to take action
HYDERABAD: In a shocking incident, a man insisted that a only a 'Hindu delivery boy' should bring him food and when this didn't happen, he abused the Muslim man.
Ajay Kumar, the customer, had ordered Chicken 65, from Swiggy, insisting that he needed 'Hindu deliver boy' and that 'ratings would depend on it'.
When the company sent order through a Muslim person, Kumar allegedly abused him. The food delivery man, Mudassir Umar, approached police but his complaint was not entertained at the Shah Ali Banda police station, said MBT leader Amjed Ullah Khan, who took it up on social media on Wednesday.
Khan said that the police instead asked the company that why he sent a Muslim delivery man. Swiggy has responded and said that, "it is our constant endeavour to ensure highest levels of customer satisfaction, unfortunately this instance isn't one...respecting all forms of beliefs is what we stand for and a mere apology won't suffice....but rest assured we are looking for a solution and devising deterrents to ensure there aren't similar occurrences in future".
UPDATE: A senior police official has said that FIR would be registered in this case.
