BHOPAL: Senior Congress leader Ajay Singh 'Rahul' has been nominated as Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh.

Ending suspense for days, the Congress high-command cleared his name, finally.

After the demise of Satyadev Katare, the post was vacant for quite sometime. The party leaders had authorised high-command to choose the leader of the legislature party.

Ajay Singh, the son of late Arjun Singh, is among the few Congress leaders with a popular base in the State. In fact, it was  during his earlier term as Leader of Opposition that Congress had made it tough for the ruling BJP in the Assembly.

Singh who is popularly known as 'Rahul bhaiya' has a strong support in Sidhi, Satna and adjoining areas of Vindhya region in Eastern Madhya Pradesh. Apart from him, some other leaders were also in the race.

But it was Ajay Singh who ultimately got chosen to lead the Opposition. With the budget session on, Congress is likely to take on the ruling party with a renewed zeal. Ajay Singh has been an MLA for several terms and was a minister in Digivijaya government.
