BHOPAL: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has got a shocker on the eve of its State executive in Gwalior.

Party leader Rajesh Bhadoria has written to the State BJP president that if BJP wants to return to power in the next Assembly election, it must apologise for Vyapam.

Bhadoria, who is the state convenor of the cultural wing of the party, has written to State BJP chief Nandkumar Singh Chauhan and its organisation general secretary Suhas Bhagat.

In the letter he has written that the situation is alarming because of the impact of the Vyapam scam. "Lakhs of students, their families suffered due to large-scale corruption in the Vyapam scam".

"We should apologise to the people of the state for the scam", wrote Bhadoria. In his letter, he has asked to include these two points in the proposal for discussion during the two-day executive.

The second proposal is about making a Dalit candidate chief minister. Bhadoria says that these resolutions ought to be passed during the executive. "The Vyapam scam took place during our tenure and hence our leadership is responsible".

"We must take moral responsibility. It will help us reclaim people's confidence", he said in the letter. "Dalits had voted in large numbers to the BJP but due to the incidents of attacks and atrocities, it is quite clear that they are now worried.

In every meeting, party talks about getting support of Dalits by setting up memorials or museums or by celebrating the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar but due to attacks on Dalits on the ground, it all seems eyewash", he further said.

Bhadoria said that he hopes the party would seriously consider these proposals so that it can strengthen itself ahead of the upcoming election. The letter was sent to BJP MP chief Nandkumar Singh Chauhan recently.

The BJP's state executive meet is scheduled to be held in Gwalior on September 28 and 29. The leader's open call for party to take responsibility for Vyapam scam and redress the grievances of Dalits, are likely to cast its shadow on the meet. BJP is yet to react on this development.
