BHOPAL: All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Digvijaya Singh has drawn attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi after police officials were booked and suspended for alleged assault with a RSS leader in Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh.

In a letter, Singh has urged the PM to take cognisance of the incident where government took actino against IG-SP apart from booking other police officials under 'RSS pressure'.

Singh has also met the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) president today and asked him to seek explanation from the MP government. Besides, he has written to the Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister for Minorities' Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi in t his regard.

In the letter, Singh criticised the state government's action against police officials. Also, he has urged Union home minister Rajnath Singh to intervene in the case and ensure that the morale of police is not affected.

"As home minister of the country, you are responsible for the honour of police. Will the honour remain even after such an incident?", he writes in the letter, addressed to home minister.

Singh asked whether it was right for the MP home minister to say that RSS workers would train police as to how they should behave with citizens."Ensure that the policemen get justice and the force remains unbiased", he wrote.

Digvijaya Singh urged NCM chairman to take cognisance of the incident and seek explanation from MP government for its conduct. He enclosed the letter written to PM, along with his memorandum. Singh also wrote to Minister for Minorities' Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.

"The policemen took legal action but they were booked and suspended. I have no expectation from you, still, I am urging you to intervene as you are a minister for minorities' welfare", writes the former MP chief minister.
