Breaking: Five Bhopal, three Indore businesspersons' names in Panama Papers

BHOPAL: The names of five Bhopal-based businesspersons have been found in the latest edition of the Panama Papers.

The Panama leaks have caused major political turmoil in several countries across the world.

A random check has revealed five Bhopal names apart from three Indore names and an entry from Mandsaur.

Two of the five names are linked to major media houses that run Hindi newspapers. The Bhopal addresses and names are mentioned clearly.

Although the ICIJ that has released the documents that reveal information on offshore holding of compaines in tax havens, has put a disclaimer that appearance of names in database doesn't necessarily imply violation of laws.

These five names at four addresses found in the searchable database--found by random check, include:  

1. Nitika Agarwal, resident of E-1/79 Arera Colony

2. Anurup Kumar Srivastava, resident of E-3/73, Arera Colony

3 &4. Sanjiv Mohan Gupta and Sapna Gupta, residents of B 22, 74 bungalows and Poonam Sethi, resident of 210 B sector Indrapuri.

5. The Indore names include Jayant Sharma, resident of 50, Swami Vivekanand Nagar, Rakesh Sethi, resident of FH 135 scheme number 54 Vijay Nagar and Rajni Baheti, resident of 22 Old Palasia AB Road.

There is also the name of Vivek Jain, a resident of Pratap Colony, Mandsaur in this list. The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) has said that it is releasing the documents in public interest. After the first leak, the Centre has said that probe was ordered regarding all the names.

In the disclaimer on its website, the ICJ mentions, "We do not intend to suggest or imply that any persons, companies or other entities included in the ICIJ Offshore Leaks Database have broken the law or otherwise acted improperly".
